Main Types & Application Scenarios of Marine Butterfly Valves
Marine butterfly valves can be divided into multiple types according to connection methods, sealing forms, and driving modes, to meet the diversified pipeline demands of commercial ships, cargo ships, yachts, and offshore engineering ships. The marine electric butterfly valve is one of the most popular types, suitable for automated ship control systems.
According to the connection way, the most common types are wafer butterfly valves and flanged butterfly valves. Themarine wafer butterfly valve is easy to install and disassemble, suitable for limited installation space; flanged type has higher structural stability and is widely used in heavy-duty fixed pipelines. Based on sealing performance, they are divided into soft-seal and hard-seal marine butterfly valves. Soft-seal types realize full sealing, zero leakage, suitable for sewage, domestic water and fire-fighting pipelines. Hard-seal butterfly valves are resistant to high temperature and wear, and are mostly used for high-temperature steam and heavy fuel oil transmission.
In terms of driving options, manual, worm gear, pneumatic and electric types are optional. Manual and worm gear types are suitable for conventional short-distance operation; the marine pneumatic butterfly valve and electric butterfly valves are applied to automated ship control systems to realize remote centralized control. From daily water supply and drainage to fire protection, ballast adjustment and chemical medium transportation, different types of marine butterfly valves play an irreplaceable role in ensuring the safe navigation of ships.
