Daily Maintenance Tips to Extend the Service Life of Marine Butterfly Valves
Regular maintenance is essential to keep marine butterfly valves in stable operation during long-term maritime navigation. Affected by salt fog, moisture and medium deposition, valves are prone to seal aging, rust and inflexible rotation without daily inspection—this is especially important for the marine ship butterfly valve, which operates in harsh marine environments for a long time.

First, conduct regular appearance and anti-corrosion inspection. Clean the surface salt stains and attachments on the valve body regularly, and repair the peeling anti-corrosion coating in time to avoid local rust expansion caused by seawater infiltration. For the marine cast iron butterfly valve, anti-rust maintenance is particularly critical to prevent cast iron from rusting and affecting sealing performance.

Second, check the sealing performance frequently. Observe whether there is leakage at the pipeline connection and the valve sealing surface. Once slight seepage is found, check the aging degree of the rubber seal and replace vulnerable parts in time. Third, maintain the driving part regularly. For worm gear, pneumatic and electric marine butterfly valves, add lubricating oil on schedule to ensure flexible rotation of the valve plate and prevent jamming caused by long-term static placement. Finally, for marine butterfly valve accessories and valves that are not used for a long time, keep them in a half-open state and do a good job of moisture-proof and salt-proof protection. Scientific daily maintenance can effectively reduce sudden pipeline failures, ensure the stable operation of ship systems, and greatly extend the overall service life of marine butterfly valves.
